Sunny. Cheerful. Radiant. Those 3 words summed up Andrea and Tom's wedding day - and I don't mean the weather. It rained - hard, and a lot. In fact, occasionally it downright POURED. OK, I take some of it back, the sun did come out on their wedding day - thankfully, each time we REALLY needed it to. Like, for their first look, a few bridal party photographs, and their beautiful outdoor ceremony.
It was as if a higher power knew the wedding day timeline, and was determined to keep it on track with short bursts of downpours. Being an Earth Science teacher, I'm sure Tom will correct me, and tell me the scientific reason that it rained at the times that it did. I'm going to stick with a higher power – because I did a whole lot of praying for the weather to clear up a little for us!
Throughout it all - each and every time we got caught in the rain, a smile never left Andrea nor Tom's face. I know it adds a little cheese factor to say this - but I'm going to anyway. They definitely carried the sunshine with them wherever they went that day.
The day began as most wedding day's do - with the ladies getting dressed and getting makeup touched up, while the gentleman learned to fold a pocket square for the first time. (Then, quickly giving up and pocketing the whole thing, plastic wrapper and all.)
This was the first time I'd seen Dad get involved in a Bride getting dressed, he even helped lace up the dress!
Oh Andrea, you're so gorgeous!
"What do we do with these pocket squares?!"
We're so glad that Andrea and Tom chose to have a first look moment. I could use one hundred different words to describe the moment, but it all boils down to one: perfect. (PS - if you want to know more about a first look, check out this blog post.)
Andrea was beaming as she walked towards Tom during the first look.... swoon.
A little bridal party action out on the course.
And just as soon as it started sprinkling, it started pouring. So we high tailed it back to cover where we waited for the ceremony to start. When the rain finally let up, the sun came out and the ceremony began, surprisingly right on time.
As if on cue, as we finished some family portraits - you guessed it, more rain!! So, we got the party started!
We did get the chance to have a few minutes alone with the newlyweds, and I am so glad we did.
After that the party really got going - what a fun group!
From start to finish, the day was absolutely perfect. Sun or rain, the weather didn't change the outcome of the day. Two amazing people (and now our friends) got married. Thank you Andrea and Tom for inviting us to be a part of your story, and congratulations!
