Our last double wedding weekend of this season started with Melissa and Brian's big day. As usual, our first stop of the day was with Melissa and her bridesmaids at home, where the finishing touches to hair and makeup were wrapping up. I love the feeling of calm, but nervous excitement that's always in the room. Tears of happiness were shed as Melissa's Mom found her a sixpence to put in her shoe for luck, and her sister in law shared a "something borrowed" (a beautiful bracelet) as well.
When we're with them, they're calm, sweet and quiet in their moments together. But on their wedding day, Brian and Melissa also added cuddly to the description as the rain rudely swept through the day. They hugged tightly together out of love, but also because they were freezing! They were troopers though, and we got some beautiful images despite the rain at Webster Park. It may have slowed us down, but as we've said before - rain doesn't stop a wedding.
At Burgandy Basin, Melissa and Brian's first dance really got the party warmed up fast! Both proficient dancers, they surprised the crowd with a breakout swing dance that no one knew was coming! They left us completely speechless, and at the same time, got their guests ready to party.
And that cake. Oh my goodness, it was gorgeous. As it should be, since Melissa (a baker by profession) designed the whole thing herself. It was so uniquely theirs, perfect for their fall wedding!
Despite the weather, it was a beautiful wedding. Brian and Melissa, we couldn't be happier for the both of you! Congratulations! ~ Erin
