Shadow Lake Wedding Photography, Penfield NY: Christina and Adam

Photographing Adam and Christina’s Fairport wedding felt like coming home. In more ways that one. And not just because we were only ever 10 minutes from home at any given moment.

It felt like home because of the people - these two, and their families are practically family to us. Their wedding kicked off our season with not only the best weather imaginable for an early April day in Rochester, but also the best people and awesome vendors.

We felt peace throughout the house when we arrived, even the flower girls were calm and ready for the day ahead. Because we had planned everything together so thoroughly, all there was left to do was enjoy the day.

And they did. The ceremony at Church of the Assumption in Fairport was love filled and emotional. We met up with Larry (their goldendoodle) and a crowd favorite for his close up on the canal in Fairport. There was even enough time for a snack from McDonalds before heading over to Shadow Lake for their reception. (Which if you haven’t seen their renovations and are looking for a Rochester area wedding venue - stop in there for sure.)

It was the perfect wedding to begin another year as wedding photographers in Rochester NY. We had waited for this day with them for so long. To witness it and be part of it meant everything to us and left us feeling inspired for the season ahead.

Congratulations to you Christina and Adam - thank you for enriching our lives with who you are, individually and together.

Colgate Divinty School, Rochester NY Wedding: Ryan and Stephanie

Lori and I photographed their Webster Park engagement session a year and a half ago. I remember that fall day so fondly, knowing that Stephanie and Ryan were perfect for each other. From the start, we blended together as though we'd known them for years. Funnily enough, now we have. ;)

No wedding is complete without a few hiccups along the journey. Steph and Ryan definitely had their fair share of hiccups. Thankfully, those hiccups didn't affect the day itself, because in the end, the cutest engaged couple ever became husband and wife.

A winter wedding can mean freezing cold temperatures and snow. But not this one. It was windy, but the temp was well above freezing for their much needed first look. You could visibly see them both relax the moment they saw each other for the first time.

They'd waited for this for so long, nothing could take the smiles off their faces as the day progressed. When time came for them to hit the dance floor, you better believe the whole party brought their A - game, all night long!

From the start, their day was smooth sailing thanks to their awesome planning, and an amazing team of vendors keeping it all together.

Special thanks go out to:
Christina Matiash Makeup, for their flawless looks
Heart to Heart Bridal, for Stephanie's gorgeous bridal gown
Flower City Nuptials, for their heartfelt ceremony
Colgate Divinity School and Special Events Catering, for all of their hard work
Something Delicious Bake Shop, for the yummy cookies and treats
Rich from Encore Events, who crushed it with entertainment all night long

Ryan and Stephanie, your love and positivity are inspiring. We're so grateful to have you in our lives and bring you these moments to cherish forever.

I've been waiting a very long time to write these words to you: Congratulations! All the best for a lifetime of love and laughter together!

Casa Larga Wedding Album: Fairport NY Weddings

We're so glad to be able to create an heirloom that tells they story you lived. We want to do it justice, but sometimes it can be a challenge to fit all of the amazingness into just thirty pages. We take hundreds of images on a wedding day, so we know it can be hard to narrow them down.

But Katie and Roman selected their favorites, and they all went together to tell the story of their wedding day in their heirloom to treasure. From their church ceremony in Greece to the reception across town in Fairport at Casa Larga, the story was theirs to tell.

So while they relive it in this beautiful album, you can check it out on their blog post from earlier this year. As always, it's our hope that you'll print your own stories, and if you need help - call us!

A Wedding and Family Portrait Combo: Fairport NY

Andrea and Kevin recently got married in Georgia. Unfortunately, her grandparents here in Fairport were unable to make the trip South for the big day. So, what do you do when you really want those portraits with your grandparents?

Obviously, we couldn't recreate their wedding day for them. But no one says you can't get back into your wedding dress (hooray for wearing it twice!) and take some portraits with the loved ones who weren't there.

We're thrilled that Andrea had the foresight to know she would want these images, and honored that she came back to us to have them captured.

We even had time for a family tradition of making pizzelles together. (Yum!) We love these candid moments, together as a family. We're so lucky to have families like Andrea and Kevin's in our lives that also cherish them as well.

Tears on the Altar: Pittsford NY Wedding Photography

At this point in my career, I've been witness to many, many weddings. Whether lavish with oodles of guests or small and intimate, each one is beautiful.

But this moment took beautiful to a whole new level for me.

I knew in advance when I arrived to the church for Angela and Joe's wedding that there would be no guests in attendance. I knew they wanted it to be just them, the Pastor and God as they said their vows.

But I wasn't prepared for the awe that would make me feel. As Angela walked down the aisle towards Joe, the power of the intimacy and quiet in the room overtook us all.

It was a truly beautiful moment. It was raw and real, and will stay with me for a very long time.

Without the nerves of being on the spot in front of a crowded church, they were able to allow themselves to really be in the moment with each other. They allowed themselves to shed tears of joy on the altar together.

And as I wiped my own tears away (sob), I captured the moment for them to relive together forever.

Angela and Joe: Pittsford NY Wedding Photography

They had it all planned, a big wedding day, back home in Massachusetts. A bridal party, a venue, a reception - all of it.

But then, they moved to Rochester and canceled the whole thing. And I have to be honest, I whole heartedly applaud them for it. Because after all was said and done they knew that all of that wasn't them - it wasn't who they were.

Instead, their wedding day was perfect for them. It was just them, one witness, their pastor, a piano player and me. It was simply beautiful.

What a huge honor, and a big responsibility for me to be able to capture something so sacred for Angela and Joe. It's been a very long time since a wedding ceremony gave me goosebumps. It was that amazing.

And once the ceremony was over, I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with them, taking beautiful portraits. We had no hurry, as there was nowhere important we had to be.

So we got in the limo and headed to Pittsford Dairy, obviously. Because on a 90+ degree day, when no one is waiting on you, and you just got married - you go get ice cream!

Joe and Angela: I wish you a lifetime of love as beautiful as the two of you are together. May you always remember the emotions you felt this day. My hope is that these images will do that for years to come. God Bless!

Brittney & Nate: Linehan Chapel at Nazareth, Casa Larga Wedding Photography

2014-08-18_0028

The only thing missing from Brittney and Nate's wedding day, was their adorable dog Whiskey. (I only say that because I miss seeing that gorgeous pup.) Otherwise, it was a truly amazing day from start to finish. We loooveee working with a laid back and fun bridal party. This group definitely had that covered. Starting with the ladies getting ready, they were so relaxed and really enjoying the moments as they happened. Nothing but smiles, there were no nervous bride or bridesmaids here. They danced together and joked all morning. Seriously, they were so calm and fun all day. Even as they waited at the back of the church to walk down the aisle, they were doing the wave to the processional music. And despite some minor wardrobe malfunctions, Nate and his groomsmen were joking and having fun as the ceremony began too. Loved it!

The ceremony at the Linehan Chapel at Nazareth College was even sprinkled with some light hearted jokes at the expense of some St. John Fisher College alumni, which includes Nate. I guess there's a bit of friendly rivalry between the two schools...being practically neighbors, I can't imagine why...

After the ceremony, the bridal party portraits kept us all laughing the whole time. One memorable moment, was when Nate and his group of rugby guys, along with the ladies showed us what a scrum is. If you don't know, it's a little like lining up a football formation - except without pads, and there's a little more crazy involved. Nevertheless, the ladies lined up across from the big, bad groomsmen. Hysteria ensued, and luckily no one had a black eye afterwards!

Then, it was off to Casa Larga Vineyards for a few more group portraits, and the party really began. Everything about the day was perfect. Throughout, I never once saw Brittney or Nate without a smile or a look of pure love on their faces. What more can you ask for really? Oh, a S'mores bar you say? Yep, they had that too. Yum, the pregnant photographer thanks you!

Nate and Brittney, we wish for nothing but the best and most beautiful future for you. Your glowing optimism and positive spirits are sure to carry you far together. We'll miss you as you make your big transition to better things in Austin! Congratulations!

Here's a little look into this picture perfect day! ~ Erin
