Favorite Wedding Moments: Syracuse Wedding Photographers

Every so often, (ok, more often than not) the photographs we take evoke a feeling. It's what a photograph is meant to do - take you back to a time and place, reliving your emotions through the image.

If it's not you in the photograph, we hope that the image resonates what the person in it is feeling.

This particular moment was captured in the hours before the wedding ceremony began. The groom had arrived to the church early to help set things up, and then get himself ready. But in the midst of the preparations, Lori captured this moment where he sat down on the altar with his marriage certificate and surveyed the empty church. Alone with his thoughts (albeit short lived) on his wedding day.

It's not often we get the opportunity to focus on the groom, so I don't pretend to know what it was he was thinking. However, I imagine there were some nerves and anticipation in that "calm before the storm" moment. Regardless of what we perceive, the only person who truly knows what that moment was like is him.

Mandy and Bill: Justin's Tuscan Grill, Syracuse NY Wedding

I loved this wedding day. Mandy's small bridal party was so relaxed it never felt like there was a rush to accomplish anything. When I arrived to the hotel, they were talking and telling stories as if this was any other normal day.

But obviously, this wasn't any other day - and I knew how excited Mandy was, and that despite her nerves about being in front of people, she couldn't wait to become Bill's wife.

They had planned a day that depicted who they were, that told their story. Which, was in fact perfect, since it was a book themed wedding. From getting ready in the library of the church, to the aisle decor, bouquets and centerpieces, it all showed a piece of who they are.

They also incorporated a stop at the fire department, where Bill works for some fun photographs with the trucks and the bridal party. Showing us a little bit more.

But what really showed me who they are, is how they looked at each other. And how their affection for each other surpassed any nerves they might have had.

Once upon a time, a young girl met a young boy in high school. Years later, they reconnected, and eventually got engaged. And now, they're beginning their happily ever after. Congratulations Mandy and Bill! Here's to the next chapter in your story!

Anyela's Vineyard Wedding Photography: Skaneateles NY

A tiny threat of rain lingered over most of the day. While this should have concerned us, we were actually pretty excited for the clouds that would pop up and keep us shaded in between times of beautiful blue skies.

Because there were SO many beautiful opportunities for wonderful wedding day photographs at Anyela's Vineyard in Skaneateles NY. From the vineyards, to the amazing gardens, to the wine cellar bar. Everywhere you looked, there was another possibility.

From a love filled ceremony to the emotion filled toasts, this day was nothing short of beautiful. We even got a perfect sunset and fireworks from across Skaneateles Lake as night fell and the party continued.

We want wish these two nothing but many happy memories together throughout the years. And congratulations on a beautiful wedding day!

Bride's Choice: favorite images as chosen by the bride!

After every wedding, Lori and I collect our favorite images together from the day and put them here on the blog. Most of the time, our favorites are also our bride and groom's favorites as well. It's a testament to why they chose us in the first place - what we see and show you, is what we love to deliver.

But sometimes it's fun to hear from you on what other images from your wedding day, resonated with you. So, I asked a few of our brides for their favorites. Today, I'm sharing some of Jessica's favorites. She gave me quite a list of them! I'm so glad we were able to give them so many wonderful images to cherish their day by.

So in no particular order, here's a few of Jess's favorites, and in her own words, why she loves them:

This picture is important to me because it captured the emotion that was felt amongst the day of a dad giving his only daughter away. It was a picture that captured all of the emotions, including the happiness and love my mother felt at the “first glance” with my father.

Left: We LOVE this picture. The angle/place in which the picture was taken shows yet again, the level of creativity Lori and Erin have in capturing such special occasions and moments! This picture we used as our “Thank You” card photo and it received A LOT of compliments!

This is the first dance taken through stair rails. We really love the angle in which this photo was taken. It is definitely not a traditional, “staged” photo. The girls added a photojournalistic touch to taking the photo and it’s very unique!

Keith (Groom) Wiping his Eyes: This picture really shows the emotion that Keith felt as he watched his Best Man video from his Best Friend, Carl, who was deployed in Afghanistan during our wedding. When Carl finally returned home, he was able to see what a touching and amazing video he had created for his best friend.

Left: The father-daughter dance. My father means the absolute world to me. He was the first man in my life and will always be my biggest fan. Being able to see the love my father had for me in this photo will be one I cherish forever. Right: The mother-son dance. Keith and I really enjoy seeing the laughter he and his mom had during their dance. They aren’t very “serious” people, so this picture really showed their personalities and joy they had.

Our Family Photos: While these photos were “staged,” these two photos are two very important photos to Keith and I. These photos serve as a constant reminder to us that our families are the most important to us. Without our families, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Our parents have been our biggest inspirations and biggest supporters to each of us and we are so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives.

Jessica & Keith: The Lodge at Welch Allyn Wedding Photography, Syracuse NY Wedding

Wedding season began with a bang for us this year! Jessica and Keith's, oh so beautiful day was every bit as wonderful as I knew it would be. And honestly, what can I say about these two, and their families? We've enjoyed getting to know them all over the past two years, from engagement session to family sessions, to now the wedding day. They now hold a very special place in our hearts - we are so grateful for their kindness and generosity as this day came to be. A threat of rain hung over the week before the wedding, but on that day - not a cloud in sight. It couldn't have been more perfect. We arrived to find the girls relaxing and enjoying lunch - while the makeup artist worked her magic on each lady. It was so relaxed, we felt right at home with everyone! As we neared the moment where Dad got to see his little girl in her beautiful wedding dress, the emotions started flowing. It's so touching to be a part of that for a family.

So, we had a beautiful spring day, gorgeous girls in bright pink dresses, with spring colored flowers and a beautiful bride. Now, we head to the church, where the ceremony went smoothly and our groom gets to finally marry his girl. Then after some time with us at Skaneateles Lake, taking some photographs over looking the lake scenery, we were off to the amazing Welch Allyn Lodge reception. Everything from the centerpieces to the lighting showed nothing but bright colors and elegance. What a remarkable job everyone did in bringing all of those details together.

One of my favorite moments of the evening, came during the toasts. I'd say the only thing "wrong" with this whole day - was that Keith's best man, Carl, was unable to take leave from the military to be there for the day. Two weeks before the wedding, they learned that he wouldn't be able to make it. However, as the toasts were wrapping up, the DJ announced one more special surprise for Keith. Carl, had recorded a message for Jessica and Keith, which they played on projector for them. I know, it meant the world to Keith.

What a perfect day for two wonderful families to join together. And what a perfect wedding to kick off our season. Lori and I were honored to capture it. Jessica and Keith, congratulations on beginning your married life together!

All the very best, now and forever. ~ Erin

Shauna + Kyle: Syracuse, NY Wedding Photography

Starting from the minute we arrived at Shauna's parents' home, we knew this would be a fun day, filled with great people. The ladies were already dressed and gorgeous. Everyone seemed relaxed and ready to enjoy the day. After a few group photographs, we headed off to the Church of the Most Holy Rosary, in Syracuse NY. From near and far, their family and friends came to witness and celebrate their marriage with them. The love in the church surrounded and included everyone.

And for only the second time in my wedding photography career, I was "called upon" by the officiant to capture the view from the altar. Now, normally we follow the rules. We don't use our flash during the ceremony and we definitely, always, every time - stay off of the altar. But when a priest stops the ceremony and asks you to come up onto the altar and take a photograph - you don't ask questions, you just follow directions.

After the ceremony, we headed over to Onondaga Park at Hiawatha Lake, for some family and bridal party photographs. Then the reception was held at The Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel, and was a beautiful affair. The navy blue and white decor was beautiful and completely elegant, perfect for Kyle and Shauna. After  the cocktail hour, the party got underway and the night was spent celebrating a great couple. Just the way it's supposed to be.

Clarification: We do NOT climb onto the altar during a wedding ceremony. But when a priest says "Miss Photographer, please come here and take this photo." it's only smart to say yes!
