Halloween Portraits at Wickham Farms: Fairport NY Photographers

For three years in a row now, we’ve descended upon Wickham Farms on the last Sunday of October. And in all three years, it has been raining. I’d say it’s depressing - but after all the rain we’ve had lately, I think we’re getting used to it.

Regardless of the weather we go, and we dress up in our Halloween costumes for fun and photographs. What better way is there really to capture your family’s Daniel Tiger, dragon, or Star Wars costumes than with us? Needless to say, we were thrilled to see so many of our cute faces in their costumes!

We did our best to not let the rain stop of us from playing in the pumpkins or on the tractor. There was even some mini golf and ice cream…yes, ice cream. Because kids don’t care if it’s 36 degrees outside when it come to ice cream.

These are the real life photographs we will remember someday - when your kids no longer want you to dress in costume with them. Because try as hard as we might, they keep growing up.

Thank you to our portrait membership families for a great afternoon!

Apple Picking at The Apple Farm: Portrait Membership Program

Wow - what a night we just had for our Apple Picking membership event. The craziness of chasing families through the apple orchards was so much fun! When I say chasing, I mean some of the kids were literally racing through the rows of trees. And yes, mine was one of them.

This is our second year of this particular event and it was also our most attended ever. The Apple Farm in Victor is a great stop for apples and pumpkins, and we took advantage of a great Sunday afternoon with each one.

At one point I heard my husband say “wow, this is actually kind of surreal.” and I asked him to explain. He went on to talk about how we’ve watched not only our own child grow and change from year to year - but each of the other kids and other families as well.

We know more than their names. We know their favorite stuffed animal’s names, we know which ones love to run and which ones love to snuggle and be shy. We know how to get some of them laughing, and we’ve watched each one come out of their shell a little more each month.

It’s an honor and a privilege to be part of so many families lives. We’ve watched them let their guard down and share real, unposed moments in front of us. It’s a privilege that comes with time and a growing relationship because of our membership program.

Thank you to our families for coming out, and enjoying time with each other, and letting us be part of the fun too.

PS - if you want to see what this program is all about, join us at our next event on October 28th at Wickham Farms!

Fairport Family Portraits

Two families and Momo, all together for a fun, fast paced session. Most sessions with three kids under the age of four usually are.

To get them all to smile at the right time often requires both of us and some very silly faces and games. The sillier we are with, the happier the kids are. On a warm day, we have to move fast to make sure we get those smiles early on.

It's a little bit of work, but when it happens, it's magic. And as these kids grow up, they'll cherish these images more with every passing day.

Until next time,

Erin

One Year Birthday Party: Family Portrait Photography

She's sugar and spice - but maybe a little more spice than sugar, as only this little girl can be. Her personality is emerging more and more every day as a sweet yet strong girl.

We celebrated her birthday with family. It was beautiful to see all of the love surrounding this little girl's life. We played and captured this milestone together.

And when it came time to cut the cake, we sang loudly and proudly as a family. And as a family, they watched as she dove into her bright purple cake. Naturally, Mommy, Daddy and her big brother all got in on the fun too.

Sometimes we get so caught up in work, we forget to play. This day, we played and I loved being there for it  - not just to capture it, but to play as well. Happy Birthday, "Baby" Stella.

April Member Event: Pajama Dance Party

On any given night, it's possible you'll find me in my pajama pants by 7:00 pm. I like to be comfortable - as most parents of kids with early bedtimes do. But on sooooo many occasions, between 5 and 7 pm is when three year old is at his CRAZIEST. So to give his energy an outlet, we turn on the radio and dance.

When we planned last weekend's membership event, it had my name ALL over it. Working together with Spotlight Theatre Arts, in Fairport NY, we created an event for our members that allowed us to both wear our PJ's and play.

And it was so much fun! We played games, we danced and we did it all with our family.

We create these events for you to get involved with your children. We hope you will allow yourself to be silly, and let us capture it for you. If you're interested in learning more about our membership - join us at our next event on May 16th at Abraham Lincoln Park, or get in touch!

PS - Give a BIG thank you to John and Spotlight Theatre Arts when you see them next!!

A special portrait session for the whole family

Large families are the best. Sometimes they're crazy, sometimes they disagree, but they always come together when they're needed. It's a beautiful thing.

Sometimes though, with as many people as this family has, it's tough to schedule a time where 32 people can all be in one spot, and inserting missing people from an extended family photograph is not in the norm for us.

But when Laura told me the circumstances, we made it happen. It's a lot of work, so we're thankful for the special skills of a very good retoucher, Megan Mullen for helping us make this full family portrait possible.

Night out at Casa Larga: Fairport NY Photographers

Earlier this month, we invited our bridal parties to take a night off and join us at Casa Larga for one of their first Patio Parties of the 2017 season.

We wanted our brides to have a break from the hectic planning and just spend time with their people. Good food, wine, beer, music and friends - that's what this night was all about. Lori and I really enjoyed getting to spend time with a few of our couples apart from the wedding scene, in a relaxed atmosphere.

Red, Hot and Blue was the band on stage while the Effortlessly Healthy and Chef's Food Truck kept the crowd fed and obviously Casa Larga provided their menu of wines to the Happy Hour crowd.

Big "thank yous" go out to the couples who joined us for the evening, and to Casa Larga for hosting us - we hope to do it again sometime soon!

Portrait of a Grandmother: Rochester NY Photographers

So many things about who I am have been cultivated by the women in my life. I'm ridiculously lucky to have had the chance to grow up knowing and loving them all. From my own mother to aunts and all the way to my great grandmother, who passed some years ago.

I'd like to think I follow in their footsteps, collecting each of their similar traits. We're all worriers and maybe a little neurotic. None of us have a green thumb or a penchant for cooking dinner. But we are also loving, hard working, independent and strong when we need to be.

So many of these traits are learned, taught and handed down. I've been so lucky to have grown up with not only a wonderful mother as an example, but my grandmother's example of love as well.

While she's now a great grandmother and grandmother - she's also still a mother. She has the same wishes for her own children that every mother everywhere has. She's still there as a mother to my parents, even when it's hard. Just like my mom is for me.

Because from what I've gathered, you don't stop being a mom when your kids have kids.

Recently my family celebrated my grandmother's 80th birthday, so naturally my camera was at the ready. I took a few minutes to just capture a portrait of her alone. Looking at it now, I see more than just her likeness. I see the matriarch of the family, supportive and strong for us all. I see love, warmth, happiness, family, history.

I see all the other moms of the family in her.

I see me.

Hugs, love, and a Happy (Belated) Mother's Day to you all (especially to my own Momma),

Erin

Musical Membership Event: Fairport Photographers

Approximately 20 kids and their parents, tambourines, shakers, drums, scarves, and a ukulele. Sounds like chaos right?

Not with Missy Reed in control of the class. Our latest membership event was so much fun. Missy led our members and guests in songs about springtime, and the kids loved it. And their parents loved seeing their kids having fun, and sang along too. She did such an amazing job, you should go see her or sign up for one of her classes!

I loved watching them all interact, dance and sing together - it really made my heart happy to see so many smiling faces, including my own little family.

I'll say it until I'm blue in the face, our Portrait Membership Program is the place to be. If you want to be part of the action with your kids and have the pictures to prove it, get in touch.

Or better yet - come to our next event. It's on May 9th at Lucas Greenhouses. We're going to get our hands dirty and plant some spring flowers for Mother's Day!

Pretty please RSVP here or by email to hello@lorianderin.com - we can't wait to see you!

Chloe is 6 months old!

This little girl is such a light. She's got two parents, two dogs and a cat that love her (not to mention everyone she meets!).

We've had the pleasure of knowing her family for a few years now, and we get to see her pretty regularly with the membership program. This visit was special, as it marked her 1/2 way point to a year old. I absolutely loved how she was blowing bubbles by the end of her session!

When her hands aren't in her mouth, they are folded in her lap like a little lady. Or up dad's nose... that's fun too! (See the blooper at the bottom!)

We just love watching you grow Chloe, see you soon!
