Emma Kate: Mercy High School Senior Portraits

Emma Kate’s senior portrait session took place in two parts.

First, we had a bright windy day in the sunflowers where we laughed and laughed. Part two took place almost two months later so we could include her dad. They certainly have a special bond, because they were still smiling throughout the cold, rainy day. Love it!!

Pittsford Dairy was a great backdrop for this session, and we enjoyed warming up with hot chocolate after!

Thank you for trusting me in the rain, and rocking your senior photos Emma Kate! It has been such a pleasure photographing you. Good luck with the rest of your year at Mercy, and see you again soon!

Senior Portrait Tips: Rochester NY Photographers

2014-07-07_0003

Our month of July is jam packed with sessions of all kinds. Weddings, family portraits and a great deal of senior portraits are all on the schedule for the coming weeks. Since our high school portraits are so popular this month, we thought it might help a few of you if we offered up a few tips for some great senior pictures. After all, these photos will live on the pages of your high school yearbook and on your walls for years to come. The experience you have should be fun, memorable and unique! So here's a few tips to get you thinking...

1) Clothing - Do your best to avoid clothing with words, stripes and plaids. Solid colors tend to photograph much better, especially in a busy background like a park or among colorful flowers. Make sure you're comfortable in your choices, and that they are flattering to you. If there's a part of you that you're self-conscious about, like your arms - simple solution, wear sleeves! Be comfortable in your clothes, so that it shows in your photographs! Also, keep your jewelry simple so it doesn't distract from what we're really capturing - you!

If you have questions on what to wear, bring a variety of options - from dressy to casual! We can help you pick the right outfit for the right setting.

2) Makeup - Ladies, don't feel like this is an opportunity to layer on the makeup. We want the natural you, not someone that no one will recognize! Your makeup should only be slightly heavier than usual. And please...don't use sparkles, they only make you look shiny in all the wrong places. Don't worry too much about blemishes either, we have ways to help diminish those!

3) Shaving - Guys, unless you're into the bearded look, shave prior to the session to avoid unwanted stubble. If you're face gets irritated easily, leave enough time for it to return to normal.

4) Props, pets and activities - Here's the fun part. What is it that makes you, you? Do you have a cat, dog or pet iguana to include? We're game, just make sure you bring treats for motivation, and someone to keep watch over Fluffy the Lizard while he's not in the photographs.

We encourage you to bring items that reveal your personality and hobbies. For example, an instrument, sporting equipment, vehicle, collectible, or whatever it is you enjoy!

2014-07-10_0007

So we may be a month late with this post and for that we apologize!  We couldn't let another day go by without congratulating our 2014 high school seniors. We were so honored that you chose us to photograph your senior sessions. We had so much fun working with each and every one of you. Each session was different in it's own way, based on all of the activities and hobbies you enjoy - which made our job even more fun! We wish the Class of 2014 all the best on their future endeavors. We hope that you'll achieve your dreams, while  in your own way making the future a better place for those who come after you.

Hey Seniors: Win a $500 scholarship for college | Rochester NY Senior Photos

With the rising costs of education, scholarships are more important than ever. Without all of the financial aid and scholarships I received, RIT would have only been a dream. I applied for every scholarship I qualified for, from local to state and national. I didn't get them all, but the ones I got were incredibly helpful. I earned my BFA from my #1 school, and had the time of my life while doing it! senior girl flowers

If you are a high school senior, it's crunch time! With proms, finals, and graduation on the horizon, there is so much to do! So, let's get to the point: a local friend of ours, Vittorio Menswear and Tuxedo is offering a $500 scholarship to help offset college expenses. So stop on in - try on a tux, and pick up an application! You can also get all the details on the Vittorio website. There is no purchase necessary, but the June 30th deadline is approaching fast.

Kate : Senior Portraits : Mercy High School

The moment I met Kate, I was transported back to my high school days. As she described to me what clubs she was in and what sports she plays, I started reminiscing about my own. We had so much in common, even down to the music-- yes I'll admit, I know the words to far too many Weird Al songs. She is even considering attending my alma mater, RIT, for film and animation. In the time we shared together, I found it so easy to talk to Kate. That must have been a big help to her in winning the election for Senior Class President, along with her message of "Let's just all be friends." I think that is such a great message for all parts of life, not just high school. Kate didn't want to focus on all of her activities for her portraits, so instead we focused on her and just had fun around the house. Here are a few of my favorites from her session.

Katie: Mercy High School Class of 2014

Senior portrait photography may be a young addition to Lori and Erin Photography, but we are excited to work with some really great students. Katie is entering her senior year at Mercy High School here in Rochester and hoping to attend college in California next year. She is part of student government and plans to major in history. If you couldn't tell, she is into fashion and (I feel) her eyes are the best accessory! We photographed her around her beautiful home and gardens, Enjoy the sneak peek! senior girl glamour shotrochester ny high school senior girlsenior girl black and whitemercy high school senior girlhigh school senior backyard photographysenior photography with dog

Kathryn Part II: Senior Fusion Video

009_20130516_8200

I'm so excited to share this post as it's the first of it's kind. Well, sort of. We've been doing fusion style videos for a few years now, but this is our first opportunity with a high school senior. Remember Kathryn? Well in addition to some awesome still photographs, we included some fun video footage and put together this highlight piece for her. It helps show off even more of her great personality and amazing smile!

Fusion is a unique offering at our studio and available as an add-on to all of our sessions. We think it adds a unique touch to any session. Check it out and leave a comment with your thoughts!

Kathryn: Mercy High School Senior

Kicking off our senior portraits for the Class of 2014 is Kathryn from Mercy High School! Kathryn is such an easy going girl. We had a lot of fun around her house and neighborhood for her senior portraits. She describes herself as being shy, smart, casual and opinionated. An active volunteer and honor society member, her favorite subjects are math and physics. She is also a very talented piano player! We really enjoyed getting to know Kathryn and are excited to share this sneak peek with you.

Have a great senior year Kathryn - and best wishes for a very bright future ahead!Rochester NY Senior Portraits, High School Senior Portraits PittsfordRochester NY Senior Portraits, High School Senior Portraits PittsfordRochester NY Senior Portraits, High School Senior Portraits PittsfordRochester NY Senior Portraits, High School Senior Portraits Pittsford
