Spring One Year Family Session: Rochester NY Photographer

This little man was one of the most peaceful one year olds I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. He had no trouble wearing his cute little bow tie and suspenders. And for the most part, he stayed just about anywhere we put him.

He was content to sit and watch the world go by while his parents did their silliest dances to make his adorable little smiles happen.

He kissed Mommy with big open mouth kisses. He walked barefoot through the grass (a feeling most one year olds can't stand!). And when he was done, he cuddled into them both so naturally perfect.

Being able to photograph one of our former wedding couples - well that was just icing on the birthday cake.

Happy First Birthday little man!

One Year Birthday Party: Family Portrait Photography

She's sugar and spice - but maybe a little more spice than sugar, as only this little girl can be. Her personality is emerging more and more every day as a sweet yet strong girl.

We celebrated her birthday with family. It was beautiful to see all of the love surrounding this little girl's life. We played and captured this milestone together.

And when it came time to cut the cake, we sang loudly and proudly as a family. And as a family, they watched as she dove into her bright purple cake. Naturally, Mommy, Daddy and her big brother all got in on the fun too.

Sometimes we get so caught up in work, we forget to play. This day, we played and I loved being there for it  - not just to capture it, but to play as well. Happy Birthday, "Baby" Stella.

Cobblestone Living Portraits: Mike, Heidi, & Jack

I met them at their brand new home - so brand new, that they'd just signed the paperwork as I arrived to photograph them! It made finding areas to shoot within their home pretty easy without furniture to fight with lighting!

These three are adorable. Especially Jack, Heidi and Mike's "almost" 1 year old. Whether out for a walk, or enjoying a drink together on the patio, they love to be together as a family - whether breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Honestly, at this stage in their family life, that's what it's all about. They don't want to miss these moments together as a family of three. With cuteness like this, I can't say that I blame them.

Together is their favorite place to be - and I'm loving it.

Adrian's First Birthday!

Turning one is so much fun! I got to play with this little guy and his family on birthday number one. Adrian enjoyed his new tricycle, balloons, and of course, trying cake!

We had a great time playing in his backyard! All in all, it was a great session - which we knew was session was over when he crawled through the cake. 😂

Is he cute or what? See you next time!

Jameson's One Year Session: Fall Family Portrait

He's always on the move, and he kept me on my toes for his entire session. I loved chasing him around in the fallen leaves of the backyard. Watching him become a toddler throughout the year has been a lot of fun.

My favorite part of this session was the cake smash. An empty dining room gave us plenty of space for the big, sugary mess of cake Jameson left behind in his footprints. Parents who are willing to let their baby get gooey and cakey right in their own house - LOVE it. The pictures are totally worth the chocolate handprints left behind.

We look forward to watching you continue to grow Jameson! ~ Erin

Lucas turns One! Family Session in Fairport

I now have a one year old. When did that happen? Wasn't I just yesterday wondering if and when he'd ever roll over on his own? And now he's crawling, standing, and starting to talk? Ummm, no.

Now more than ever before, I realize how important my photographs are. After I put Lucas to bed the night before his birthday, I flipped through an album I'd made of images from the past year. I already don't remember what he felt like as a 5 lb newborn, and how tiny he really was as a preemie in my arms. I looked at pictures of his first Halloween, his first Christmas, and the first time he held his own bottle and reminisced on the past year of our lives. Those pictures mean everything to me now.

I'll be honest, I thought the session would be easy. But in true toddler style at a portrait session, Lucas proved me wrong - at first. He was cranky, he didn't want to play in the grass, and he wouldn't smile. So if you think your kids are the only ones who have meltdowns at portrait sessions - think again. Yes, even a photographer's baby has a bad day.

In the end, Lori worked her miracles and Lucas started to have a little more fun. I'm so grateful for her patience. And I love the smiles that eventually came out of my little man, but really, even his "serious" face is adorable. As he grows faster and faster, this one year session taken by Lori will be added to those memories in the ever growing album, and his moments of crankiness will all be forgotten.

Here's the results of our latest family session! ~ Erin

August's 365 Project: Rochester NY Photography

Wait, did I blink and miss August? It's a good thing for this project, because I barely remember the beginning of last month. We've been busy with sessions, great weddings, and some awesome milestone's for my little man, Lucas.

This month, I traveled to Boston for a wedding. I also spent some time in the woods and "off the grid" camping with my family. It was Lucas's first camping trip, and it was great to spend some time with my family.

But the biggest memories of this month have to come from Lucas. One year ago, he entered our lives and forever changed my world. He celebrated his birthday month by learning not only how to crawl, but how to stand up on his own, say some of his first words. On top of that, he turned one and confirmed that he's definitely my child by diving into a few cupcakes face first.

Yes, the year did go by fast and it was amazing. But there's more amazing still to come, so I'm excited to see what he learns next.

Catch up with my 365 with these fun photos! I can't believe I'm still going strong! ~ Erin

Morgan is 1! Family Portraits in Pittsford NY

It's been so much fun celebrating this whole year with Morgan. I loved watching her grow, explore and seeing all of her adorable outfits! We finished up the year with her one year session. It involved some balloons we weren't sure about, a hat we didn't want to wear, and some crazy, fun family members singing to us! She did love reading her books and looking out the window. I love this behind the scenes shot of mom changing her while dad feeds her. It really shows the teamwork involved with raising a child. Love it! Enjoy these, and check back for a full year recap coming soon! Lori

Adorable family of four : Highland Park Family Portraits

6 years and two children later, this beautiful family holds a special place in my heart. To this day, I still have the thank you card on my bulletin board that they wrote to me after their wedding. I've kept it all of these years as a reminder of when I was just starting out. It's great couples like Dana and Michel that helped me grow. Their trust and continued support truly means the world to me as we continue to grow. I'm so incredibly thankful for them. On top of that, they make adorable children and are so much fun to work with. We picked the perfect afternoon to play in the park together. Check out their cuteness - I just love all of their faces and can't wait to see them again! ~ Erin 2014-07-22_0001.jpg 2014-07-22_0003.jpg 2014-07-22_0004.jpg 2014-07-22_0002.jpg 2014-07-22_0005.jpg

Baby's first year album, featuring Clara

The first year of life is full of growth, discovery and love. Lots and lots of love! It is our honor and pleasure to capture all of those special moments, especially in this case. If you have followed the blog for any period of time, you have no doubt seen Clara before. I am now delighted to show off her first year album!

first year album cover

This project was a labor of love, and would not have been possible without my sister-in-law's help and input. I had a vision for how this book would look, but Kerry made it possible by providing the details and memories to enhance the photography.

first year album details

By working together, we have created a time capsule of Clara's favorite things and how they changed, fun facts from every stage of development, and a beautiful letter from her parents. Can you imagine having one of these of your own first year? Today, this is a gift for mom and dad. In time, it will become a treasured possession for little Clara herself.

Take a look inside, and witness the development of Clara from womb to infant to toddler. Isn't life amazing?

This is a brand new product that is now available as part of our first year plan. We'd love to make one for you next!

Best, Lori

katie, one year old winter portraits: family session rochester ny

This session was the last of her first year series. We danced along to Jack Johnson, read a story, and did a little snowboarding. Yes, you read that right, snowboarding. When she was born, her Daddy wanted a few newborn photos to include his snowboard. So a year later, when we found ourselves with actual snow on the ground - we got the board out again! Getting to capture her growth throughout her first year has been an honor. Each time we visited, we saw her personality emerge a little bit more. And wow, her smiles light up the room. So much fun to be had - we would have played all day... but we need nap time sometimes too.  :)

Meet the Family

Amy & Steve | Married 2 1/2 years | Love the classic dinner and movie on a Saturday night. Pretty rare these days though... Katie | 1 year | Loves  feeding Winnie puffs.  Wow...this is a hard one because there is so much she likes to do and it changes all the time! Favorite way to celebrate life together: Spending time with our friends and family. We especially love taking Winnie and Katie on hikes. What makes a good portrait: Photos that are candid and natural. Anything else: We look forward to Lori and Erin capturing many more beautiful photos of our family in years to come.
