Ventosa Vineyards Wedding, Advice for Wedding Couples from Sara and Larry

Sara and Larry’s Ventosa Wedding was like being at one of our own family weddings. These two and their families made us feel so at home. So when they said they wanted to write up some advice for wedding couples I was so excited. But when we saw what they wrote, I swear it put us over the moon with happiness. We’re so, so honored and I swear to everything, we did not solicit these exact words.

Read on to find their advice for engaged couples:

I have so many favorite pictures, but I  wanted to share the one I attached because I love how it captures so much happiness and fun! I honestly believe that the most important part of our wedding was having you guys share the day with us.

Sara's advice: Do not, under any circumstances, skimp on having the BEST photographers.  This is the most important decision you can make for your wedding. Having an amazing venue is certainly extremely important, but even with the best venue, if you and your photographers don't mesh, or if they don't share your wedding day vision, you will miss out on so much you didn't know was happening throughout the day.

Larry's advice: Take time and enjoy the day because it really does fly by!

Thank you, Sara and Larry, for your amazing words. Are you one of our past couples? Would you like to share your favorites with us? Just get in touch - we’d love to hear in your words what your favorites were!

Finger Lakes Winery Wedding: Michelle and Steve

They met seven years ago at the University of Buffalo. Since then, they've been together through all that life has brought their way. They were most looking forward to having everyone together on their wedding day.

And they were also looking forward to finally being married. Mission accomplished.

The mood was calm and happy throughout the house as they prepared for the beautiful day ahead. Michelle's hair and make up were perfect, and it was time to really get the party started.

An emotion filled first look, and bridal party photographs before their ceremony on the lawn at Ventosa Vineyards kept the day relaxed.

We love when our couples choose to do a first look. All of their nerves are erased, and the time is well spent on photographs that would otherwise keep them from a well deserved cocktail hour.

It was such an honor to witness and capture this whole day. It couldn't have been more beautiful for these two!

Cheers to Michelle and Steve!

Finger Lakes Wedding Photography: Melanie and Chris

I've never met someone quite like Melanie - she's sweet and playful with her own brand of confidence. When she was told they had to use the rain plan on their wedding day, she was downright happy about it.

That's what it's all about - even when she could have been disappointed, she smiled and danced and still felt all the feels on their wedding day. Because at the end of the day, she had exactly what she planned for - she was married to Chris.

But here's the thing... it didn't really rain. Not during their emotional first look at White Springs Manor. Not through their family and bridal party pictures. And it barely sprinkled during their ceremony and reception at Ventosa Vineyards.

Whenever they looked at each other, it was with love - usually followed by laughter.

As Finger Lakes NY wedding photographers, we're so lucky to know and work with the best couples. They roll with the circumstances and always with love and grace. Melanie and Chris are no exception.

As they celebrate their Italian honeymoon, we're happy to share the story of their day with you. Congratulations Melanie and Chris!

2017 Wedding Review: Finger Lakes NY Wedding Photographers

When your wedding season begins with a couple stopping for pizza and ends with a dozen adoptable dogs at a cocktail hour - you know you're doing something right.

Simply put, 2017 was an amazing year of weddings.

Here's just a few reasons why:

1) They were unique: Our first wedding of the season, and we're stopping for pizza. Cristin and Michaela also threw the most amazing reception at the Rochester Museum and Science center, including an epic bridal party dance off throw down.

2) Vineyards: Whether it was a sunset ceremony at Knapp Vineyards, or quiet time together at Casa Larga, Ventosa Vineyards or even Becker Farms. The grapes were a gorgeous, prominent part of many of our wedding images this year.

3 Sunsets: Because oh golden hour magic, how we love thee so.

4) Relaxed elegance: Our couples added so many fun, relaxed touches to their elegant wedding days and portraits. Like s'mores, campfires and hanging out with very friendly horses at The Wadsworth Homestead in Geneseo.

5) Cocktail hour on a boat? Why yes, please! Amanda and Vince's Lockport Locks boat cruise was one of the most unique ways to host cocktail hour that we've ever experienced.

6) New Venues: We were so lucky to capture weddings at some new places this year. The Wintergarden by Monroe's, Becker Farms, Shadow Lake, Statler City and so many more. From Rochester to the Finger Lakes to Buffalo - it felt like we were always experiencing somewhere new!

7) Puppies! Matt and Ellen killed it with hosting Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions during their cocktail hour at the Port of Rochester. Because who wouldn't want to play with puppies at a wedding?!

8) Playfulness: We loved that our couples were up for fun. You might think being silly can seem out of place at a wedding - but what better way is there to enjoy the day?

9) Realness: Above all the rest, what an honor to see real emotions, true friends, love and so much joy from our couples and their families. Soooo many genuine reactions in wedding day photographs. It reminds me of how much trust is put in us on such a beautifully important day. I mean, really when a groom cries, my heart melts.
