Katie, Tyler and Ollie: Rochester NY Engagement Session

So we've spent a lot of time at Cobbs Hill Reservoir in downtown Rochester lately. Coincidentally, most of our visits there have been to photograph an engagement session. It's always a pretty busy place, so we're getting pretty accustomed to dodging runners on the path or picnic goers out for a night to watch the sunset over the city. That part always tends be the same. What I love, is that even though it's a familiar location, the people and the session is never the same.

For Katie and Tyler, the Reservoir made perfect sense as the backdrop to their engagement session. Their first apartment together was in the Upper Monroe area, so they visited Cobbs Hill regularly. It became one of their favorite spots to be together.

Together, they're comfortable, full of big smiles and laughter, even if they have differing opinions on baseball teams. (We'll forgive Katie for her life choices on baseball - just this once).

Oh, and can we talk about their rescue pup, Ollie for a minute? That little guy has such a personality; you can see it all over his face. He's so lucky to have been rescued by two of the sweetest, kindest humans.

After spending just a few short hours together, I know that their wedding day (and beyond!) will be amazing. I also know, that I can't wait to be part of it. Thanks you two!

Mike & Keegan: Rochester NY Engagement Session

Their adventures together began at RIT over wine. Since then, many more of their adventures involve traveling together, even their engagement on the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland where Mike promised Keegan a lifetime of adventure.

In their relationship, they believe that she's the feet on the ground, and he's the head in the clouds. But their sense of adventure is what makes them who they are together. They've now been to 19 states and 3 countries together.

Their engagement session  at Cobbs Hill Reservoir was just another adventure for them (and us!) It included a little rain, a big love ball, and a whole lot of laughs.

They believe that if you can successfully travel with someone, through good and the bad, and make it out the other side still together - then you've found the one for you.

I couldn't agree more. Can't wait for the wedding day adventures!

Cobbs Hill Engagement Session: Danielle and Ryan

Hooray for warm and sunny days! Danielle and Ryan's engagement session got rescheduled TWICE before we finally had the night we wanted. All that rain last month gave us a challenge - but we persevered!

They love a good sunset and being outdoors with their pups Lexi and Gage. Side note, as a puppy, Gage helped Ryan propose to Danielle - so naturally we included him in their engagement session.

It was a busy night at Cobbs Hill Reservoir, as it was one of the first 80 degree evenings of the year, but they didn't seem to mind.

They are a beautiful mix of sweet and silly together. They make each other laugh at the right moments and fit together perfectly. I can't wait to witness and capture their Statler City wedding in Buffalo in just a few months!

Until then, enjoy this little peek at their love.

Matt and Ellie: Engagement Session at Silver Lake

Here's what I know is fact about these two - they're awesome together. They are a wonderful combination of silly and sweet, which made their engagement session at their lake house on Silver Lake and Letchworth so much fun.

Even on a cold March day, this session was beautiful. The way she looked at him, and him at her, is the stuff that dreams are made of. And those big sweet, lovable great danes of theirs? Gorgeous.

They were nervous about their engagement session (as a lot of couples are). Everyone tells me they're awkward in pictures. To them, and especially to Ellie and Matt I say: "Nope."

This is the exact reason we recommend engagement sessions. We want you to relax and feel comfortable with us as your photographers by showing you how NOT awkward you are. Rather, we want you to know you're beautiful. Just like Ellie and Matt.

Rebecca & Orion: Rochester NY Engagement Session

Orion and Rebecca moved here from Alabama together for school, they love being outside (even in the snow) and trying new cuisine together. I heard their Southern accent and just knew they'd be the sweetest couple. I wasn't wrong. They're meant to be husband and wife.

Their engagement session brought us to downtown Rochester NY, first to The Old Toad. I have a fondness for that pub, as it's where my own first date with my husband was. Ah, memories. I digress...

The way Rebecca's eyes sparkled when she smiled at Orion - so crazy beautiful. We also hit up Cobbs Hill Park for a little fun in the snow. Whether cozied up in a pub or dancing in the snow, they fit perfectly together.

See what I mean?

Engagement sessions of 2016: Rochester NY Wedding Photographers

Ok, I know. It's February, and it's time to move on from 2016. I'm working on it, I swear. But I can't move into 2017 without acknowledging some of my favorite images from our 2016 engagement sessions.

Engagement sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph. It's all the love and beauty of a wedding day, with more time than a wedding day can sometimes allow.

We traveled everywhere from Syracuse to Letchworth sharing our couples stories and capturing who they are together. These were couples from 2016, but also some happen to be our amazing 2017 (or 2018!) wedding couples.

Judging from the gorgeousness of their engagement sessions, it's going to be a beautiful year.

Amanda & Vince: Black Creek Park Engagement Session

Oh these two. From the minute I heard that they got engaged on the top of the EIffel Tower, I knew they were adventurous and up for anything. They love to travel and they love hiking and exploring with their big love able dogs, Jude and Shadow.

They wanted something of a winter wonderland for their engagement session - but of course, we live in Upstate NY where even in December you never know what you're going to get. They took us to their favorite spot in the woods at Black Creek Park in Chili, and while the day was a little dreary, when we ventured into the woods together none of that mattered.

I loved the sweet way Vince smiled at Amanda, and then the way she would laugh at him or even on occasion stick her tongue out at him to get him laughing too.

We may have found the right light and background - but they made their engagement session about who they are together. Fun, adventurous but also sweet and romantic all at the same time.

We're just the lucky ones to get to show that off.

Alice & Casey: Pittsford NY Engagement Session

A great guy met the perfect girl at a bar.

No, seriously that's where they met - at Thirsty's, a small town bar in Pittsford NY. They joke about it now, because to them it doesn't seem like the "sweetest" of love story beginnings. But just look at them. No matter how the story began, they're together now, and they couldn't be happier. You can see it in every single image we shot.

With the craziness of life, they don't get a lot of time together these days. So their engagement session was a necessary afternoon date day for them. We strolled around Schoen Place, the Erie Canal Path and eventually made our way back to the tree, near the bar where they got engaged and where it all started.

We love when our couples are themselves with us, silly, sweet, or romantic. Casey and Alice are the perfect mixture of all of those things. They laughed and cuddled so comfortably together, it was easy to capture them being themselves.

I already can't wait to get them back in front of our cameras on their wedding day. Enjoy a little of our tour de Pittsford with Casey and Alice!

Katie & Roman: Wilberts Tree Farm Engagement Session

We ask all of our couples to fill out a little Q&A before their engagement session. It helps us get to know them just a little better, and learn more about their relationship. Now, I hadn't yet met Roman but after reading some of his responses (and busting out laughing) I knew that this would be an amazing engagement session.

Q: What is unique about you as a couple?
Roman: "We'll have been together for 6 years by the time we get married. Much of that has been spent in a long distance setting which we're both very excited to see come to an end. However, at the risk of sounding cliche, I think it's strengthened us to the hardships that come with marriage and establishing a family and also taught us to appreciate the happy moments together, no matter how small they seem. Also, we rule. Well, mostly her. But she'll be my wife so I guess I rule a little bit too?"

Why yes, Roman, you do rule a little bit.

Their engagement session fit them to a tee. (or tree, hehehe, I'm so punny)  They got engaged in the wee morning hours on Christmas, which also happens to be Katie's favorite time of year. She loves snow, and cuddling together under warm blankets, watching TV with Roman. So a Christmas-y, winter scene at Wilberts Tree Farm in Webster was perfect.

Every single time they looked at each other, their smiles widened and eyes sparkled. And I just can't get over how beautiful they are when they laugh together. And we laughed a lot, so it all worked out perfectly.

Congratulations Katie and Roman - we can't wait to see you again!
