Where's your happy place? Is it the park near your house? The beach? Or your own backyard? Close your eyes and picture that space, and how it makes you feel.

Now, if that's where you're most comfortable, and most you - why not create your family photos in your happy place?

If that's your backyard, let's do it! Much like this family enjoys hanging out by the pool and relaxing at home. If you look out your window and it makes you smile, then it's a perfect spot for your portrait session.

Besides that - we love shooting in unique spaces like these, and since every home is different, they're all unique! We also love to be able to tell the story of who you are at home, just like this family!

Cobblestone Family Portraits: Victor Photographer

Their perfect Saturday is spent in the backyard, and it's easy to see why. 

My neighbor recently told me that the backyard is our oasis, and this family sure had that. A pool, and playground and even a putting green (put in by the previous owners). 

The three kids seemed ready to jump in as soon as word was given. We made a few family portraits in their favorite space, and then let the kids splash in the pool as their reward. Lots of fun with a super sweet group. Here's a little peek, enjoy!

Families in Victor NY: Portrait Sessions at Home

Susan and Brian are very peaceful people. They have a meditation area set up in their spacious backyard, a vegetable garden and a very mellow golden retriever who likes to lay by the piano. I really enjoyed my time with them, creating images for Cobblestone Living magazine. I especially loved when Roxy joined Susan for some quiet mediation. So cute! I had the pleasure of meeting Susan, David and sons at their home in Victor. With five boys between the ages of 14 and 21, it's not often you find them all in the same room! So this was a very special shoot and I was honored to capture these moments for them.

Victor NY Family Photography: Reagan and Family

This little cutie entered the world three months early, but she is so full of energy and joy, you'd never know it. Reagan loves to read and play; mom and dad love to travel. I enjoyed hearing about their travels to Iceland, as it is on my "places-to-go list" (which just so happens to be a mile long). I just adore the ABC artwork they have in her room – from Agra to Zurich! I want that on my wall too!

I just love being a family photographer. It's all about meeting wonderful people and telling their story in pictures that makes me happy! Enjoy!

Cobblestone Family Session: Victor NY Portraits

It was the last light of a fall night, but we snuck outside for some fun. Christian showed off his lacrosse skills, while Anna played soccer. And Lucy, she wanted to dance and swing on the playground! This family is so full of energy, it was contagious.

Their perfect Saturday? Sleeping in, making "Uncle Joe's" pancakes, and visiting family at Sylvia Lake in the Adirondacks or on the farm in Ovid, NY.

Victor NY Extended Family Pictures

50 years together is something to celebrate. I try imagine my life 40 years from now, and can only pray that I'll be surrounded by as much love and family as Janet and Dick are.

It was a hot, humid morning for a family portrait update, but these guys stuck it out. With rain possibly threatening their anniversary party, we wanted to make sure that we photographed the family together before everyone traveled home the next day.

The day ended up rain free. And while the portrait session was warm, I had a lot of fun with this family, and their pups too! It was clear to see they enjoy their time together, and loved celebrating an amazing milestone for a wonderful couple.

Family Portraits for Cobblestone Living | Victor, NY Photography

We really love meeting and photographing local families. Hearing their stories, seeing the way they interact together and how they live. Every family unit is unique and interesting! Cobblestone Living is a magazine that also celebrates this idea, so it has been a wonderful collaboration. Each month, we get to meet and work with a different family in this Victor neighborhood. I thought I would show you a couple recent families we had the pleasure of working with!

First up, the Utter Family. Jody is a Realtor and her husband works for Seedway. They have 3 daughters, but only two were able to get together for the portraits. We missed Erika, but still had fun with Jacqueline and Marigrace! The landscaping was flawless, thanks to Billy's gardening talents. And their backyard blends right into the golf course. Only once did we have to hurry up on a shot so I could get out of the golfers' way! It was an easy going session and lovely group of people.

Next, the Braun Family. Also three kids, but this time all boys! They are a retired Navy family, hence the red, white and blue theme for the photos. I loved hearing about all the places they have lived. It was a really interesting thought to realize that when JJ, the oldest, goes off to college, those four years will be the longest he has ever lived in the same place! 

I love these two family shots: the nice perfect looking family in the backyard, and a little goofy shot in the front yard. The dogs did a great job too, although they weren't too happy about the fireworks going off in the distance!

Victor NY Family Portraits: Cinderella and family

When I walked in the house, Dad jokingly asked me if I knew about his illustrious modeling career with L.L. Bean. I knew right then that this family was going to be a lot of fun. Parents, grandparents, 3 great kids, and 2 dogs kept me laughing the entire session.

Lucy, the youngest in the family was the star of this show in her Cinderella dress - and why not? She fit the color palette perfectly, and got to show off her own personality at the same time!

What a fun session! I can’t wait to visit them again this summer for more great portraits! ~ Erin
