3 Things You Can do with Fresh Branding Images

Recently we had the opportunity to join forces with the team at Serendipity Labs to host a Happy Hour with a side of Personal Brand Portraits, and we have to say—they were AWESOME!

Each attendee got to mingle, have a snack and a drink, AND get a micro brand photography session, where they walked away with an updated branding image to use however they needed it!

Why is that such a big deal? I mean, what can you do with new brand photographs anyway?!

Branding Photography for Rochester NY Therapists

Voice Therapist, Gerriann Jackson of VoiceOver Speech Pathology, came to us excited about her new website. We learned that she’s colleagues with Caroline Murrah, who happens to be another brand photography client of ours! (Check out Caroline’s blog post here.)

Gerriann wanted to portray herself as a warm, inviting person, with a variety of interesting hobbies (like taking drum lessons) and a love of her family.

She used these portraits on her website and social media pages for people to learn more about who she is.

What’s great about personal brand photography is that no two sessions are ever the same. Even if our subject is in a similar field. The reason here is obvious - it’s personal!

Here's how she used her branding photographs:

3 Reasons to Update your Branding Pictures: Fairport NY Photographers

This is Kristi’s second branding mini session this year. We photographed her last at our brand sessions at Do or Dye, back in March. She’s still using those branding pictures, so why would you want to have another round of portraits taken in the same year? Feels like a lot, right?

After all, you just had “new” business headshots taken 2 years ago.

Here’s 3 reasons to update your branding pictures a little more often.

  • Your website feels stale.

    • When was the last time you checked to make sure your website was working for you? Is your bio outdated? Would some fresh pictures change everything?

  • Seasons change.

    • Are you planning to post happy summer pictures to your feeds all winter long? Timely pictures will help.

  • Leveling up.

    • Kristi mentioned she was planning to aim for a different type of client. She’s growing and evolving, and she wants her pictures to reflect that going forward. Has your business leveled up since your last set of branding pictures were taken.

We’re not saying you have to sign up for a branding mini session every time - unless you love consistently fresh content! But if you’re looking at a portrait on your website from 2019, it might be time to think about an update. And if so, our branding sessions might be perfect for your needs.

Brand Photography for Florists: Rochester NY Branding Pictures

Jamie’s goal at Creative Gardens is to help everyone be surrounded by color, because it makes their lives a little bit brighter, more cheerful and welcoming. She wants to bring inspirational beauty to the world through her gardening.

She could just post branded pictures of her container gardens or wedding designs to her social media feeds. But Jamie knew it was time to elevate her look with a personal branding photo session. She already works with some higher end country clubs and residential homes, so it was time to show up that way in her business, all year long.

So far, we’ve created branding pictures in Rochester, working at her hotel and country club sites, and on a wedding design at Fig Holllow Barn.

We can’t wait to see what else we’ll get to photograph for her brand as the year goes on!

Personal Branding Mini Sessions: Rochester NY Brand Photography

Some of our favorite entrepreneurs just gained a fantastic collection of branding images.

All it took was saying “yes” to a 15 minute personal brand mini session.

We had some great female entrepreneurs show up from various occupations - SEO specialist, marketing strategy, college administrators and even a fellow branding photographer!

What’s great about this space, is that we were able to create great branding portraits and headshots for every person that came, because there are a variety of backgrounds that range from fun and funky to board room business.

In just 15 minutes, you could revamp the images on your whole website. For example - shortly after we delivered Kristi Mitchell’s images, we saw them on her website, and we have to say, the pictures fit her brand perfectly! (See what we mean below.)

Or, you could create a library of images you can use on social media to talk about your brand. The options for using brand photography are endless.

Rochester NY Brand Photography for Consultants

After her personal brand session was complete Jessica said “Your process helped me take a more thoughtful and intentional approach to my brand.”

She also said “We laughed, we posed, my hair got frizzy…you made what can feel like a completely unnatural and awkward experience fun.”

That’s high praise coming from a business and personal development consultant. It’s also exactly how we want you to feel about your personal branding session.

She’s the Owner and Chief Transformation Officer of ApPROach Consulting. We recently caught up with her to review her personal branding photography session. We asked her five questions that might help a business owner decide if this is a worthy investment. Here’s what she said:

What do you do, and why did you choose to invest in your personal brand?

“apPROach Consulting is a strategic planning and business development consulting practice that serves individuals, small businesses, and non-profit organizations.  I believe that a great strategy for building your business is through creating a personal connection between the business owner and the client.  This is something that can be uncomfortable for business owners.  In my business development classes we spend a lot of time talking through how vulnerable it feels to put your words and your face out there.  Showcasing products and services is usually much easier.  I wanted to put my philosophy into practice by using my personal image to connect with my own customers and demonstrate the value to other business owners.”

Did you learn anything about yourself?

“Completing the personal branding questionnaire in advance of the photo shoot was a great opportunity to reflect on how I do business, engage with clients, and project my values through my services.  It is important for every business owner to pause and evaluate their values and their vision regularly.  Lori and Erin’s personal branding questionnaire is a tool I will revisit in the future to assess my brand as my business evolves.”

What did you enjoy most about your session?

“Being photographed is usually an uncomfortable experience for me, like most people.  Lori and Erin made a typically awkward and unnatural photo shoot feel fun and exciting.  Because we had met and discussed my business and my goals in advance of the photo shoot, I felt connected to them both and at ease.  They truly partnered with me on my personal branding journey.”

How are you using your images?

“I have featured my images on social media, approachconsultingllc.com, and I’ve updated my profile pictures in the many online meeting tools we’re all using these days (Teams, Zoom, GoToMeeting, Webex, Hangouts, etc.)  I have received great compliments on the updated images.  The new images capture my essence so much better than the traditional headshots I used to use.”

Would you recommend Lori and Erin Photography?

“Not only would I recommend working with Lori and Erin for any photography service, I would recommend stepping through the personal branding process with them to any business owner or organization.  The same way strategic planning helps align a person or team around goals and priorities, completing the personal branding questionnaire helps to solidify the image you have for your business.  Lori and Erin can take your vision for your business and help you craft the visual content you need to connect with your audience.”

We focused on more than updating her headshot. We planned, we worked together and created stories in images that she could use to connect with her audience.

And it wasn’t hard, in fact - it was fun for all of us. So if you want to learn more about your business, show up in front of your clients, and have fun doing it - we’re ready for you.

Rochester NY Branding Sessions in Parking Garages

We photograph a lot of wonderful couples in love. When we met Jason and Stefanie, it was easy to see they're in love - but that wasn't the reason they came to us. For this session, they had one goal...to show their fun side, and their love for the City of Rochester through their new website: The Rochesteriat. If you haven't heard of it by now, I'm sure you will soon. They're on a mission to help revitalize Rochester with a new and exciting city guide in the making. I suggest you check it out - it's pretty fantastic, and we know it's going to grow quickly!

For too long people have been looking down on Rochester, as a failing city. But they see it differently – as a changing city. Stefanie and Jason see Rochester as a place where new development is growing and entrepreneurs are coming back. And they want to be a part of it all.

Have you checked it out yet? Go ahead, I'll wait.... (insert jeopardy theme song here).

Ok, welcome back. In a nutshell, we were happy to help them create some great images for their bio page. We went to a few neat locations, including the top of a parking garage where there were some pretty great views of the city skyline.

To them, The Rochesteriat is more than being about a city guide in the making, it's about being a part of Rochester's history in the making. Thank you Jason and Stefanie for a great night, and for sharing how you see the city with us and inspiring us to see it that way too.
