Fairport NY Family Portraits

Jennejahn Park Extended Family Portrait Session: Hilton, NY

It was my first time at Jennejahn Park in Hilton, but I would love to go back! A neat little spot tucked behind a school, with a stream and trails. It worked perfectly to celebrate this family.

Everyone was in one place for a birthday party, so why not have some fun together? The kids played, the adults chased, there were bubbles and laughs.

They (the children) don't get smaller, that's for sure. And these kiddos had their cuteness on overload. See what I mean below, and say hi!

First Birthday Party Photography, Fairport NY

Chloe wasn't sure about her first bites of birthday cake, but she sure loved the toys at her 1st birthday party! Mom and Dad planned her an awesome "Under the Sea" themed party which lots of family and friends came out to enjoy. Chloe flashed her smile all day long and enjoyed opening her gifts. Can you believe her mom made that cake? How cute!

It has been my pleasure watching this little family grow, and I felt like part of the family while photographing this milestone for them. Looking forward to the next one, she'll be walking in no time!

xoxo,
Lori

A Wedding and Family Portrait Combo: Fairport NY

Andrea and Kevin recently got married in Georgia. Unfortunately, her grandparents here in Fairport were unable to make the trip South for the big day. So, what do you do when you really want those portraits with your grandparents?

Obviously, we couldn't recreate their wedding day for them. But no one says you can't get back into your wedding dress (hooray for wearing it twice!) and take some portraits with the loved ones who weren't there.

We're thrilled that Andrea had the foresight to know she would want these images, and honored that she came back to us to have them captured.

We even had time for a family tradition of making pizzelles together. (Yum!) We love these candid moments, together as a family. We're so lucky to have families like Andrea and Kevin's in our lives that also cherish them as well.

Egypt Park: Fairport NY Photographers

Every year we take a night to say "thank you" to our clients with a picnic. We love sitting down to a meal with you and spending time with you outside of your portrait sessions.

It's our favorite way to say thank you, and it was a beautiful night to do so.

Thank you to all of the engaged couples who let us capture their biggest day. Thank you to the couples who are still with us, as families now six years after their wedding day. To each graduating senior who shared their world with us. And to the families we've photographed, as well as to our members who we are so grateful to see and photograph regularly.

We are so grateful for each and every one. Here's a glimpse of the fun!

Relay For Life 2017: Rochester NY Photography

I've been photographing these events for three years now. The passion that the volunteers and staff put into them moves me continuously. The mission behind their passion fuels them, and me as well.

While each Relay event is different, the reasons stay the same. To fight back against cancer, to celebrate those who've survived and to remember those who have passed.

This year I was asked to also photograph The Gates Chili High School Relay for Life event. It's a few weeks before the Fairport one and early in our wedding season, so I was happy to help.

The major thing I noticed about this Relay was how many children were there wearing the purple survivor t-shirts. My heart breaks for those children, for those families and the struggles they probably continue to endure because of cancer.

And so I'm putting out my annual plea to you today, please support my Relay team this year. No amount is too small - even $5 helps a child receive treatment, or research be completed. Because if they're still fighting, so am I.

To donate: Relay for Life 2017

In continued hope for a world without cancer,

Sweet Newborn Portraits: Buffalo NY Photographers

She's six adorable pounds of perfection. I'm not the only one who thinks so. Her village of family and friends think so too. And let's not forget Mommy and Daddy.

She's Stella Skye, and she's my newest niece. Eight years ago, her big brother Caleb was one of the first to ignite the spark that led me to where I am today, capturing relationships of all kinds. And now here's Stella, and I'm doing it all again.

Her newborn session began a little messy, but within minutes she was sound asleep. She stayed that way for hours...perfectly peaceful while we captured sleepy smiles all over the house. Her room was my favorite - everywhere you looked there was another handmade piece. Whether the mural or the drawings done by her own Mommy, the handmade blankets, or the signage lovingly made by family.

For now we'll cherish the smallness of her fitting into her Daddy's two hands or her Mommy's comforting arms as she sleeps. Because all too soon she'll wake, and those mountains she's going to move won't know what hit them.

Erin

Pool Party Fun by Fairport NY Photographers

Outside the weather was, gray and rainy, as most March days can be. But inside the Perinton Recreation Center the pool was cozy and warm. A perfect afternoon for the families of our membership program.

Even the littlest VIP's in our membership program had fun with their parents splashing in the pool. There's somewhere to play for every age. So if you've never visited this aquatics center - you definitely should!

Enjoy some of the moments from the event - and join us next month!

Three Generations Family Pictures: Victor Portrait Sessions

These four! From the second I walked in the door, I felt welcomed. Which is impressive, considering we hadn't yet spoken in person - only through emails and text messages.

Kaya and Kiko were more than happy to show off their toy room and reading skills... even their gymnastics skills were on display! But most of all, these girls like to have fun and laugh. That is my perfect kind of family portrait session!

Beautiful and kind and all around wonderful people. Meet Sayuko of Premium Mortgage/Cobblestone Living and her family.

Snow Day at White Brook Nature Park: Portrait Membership Events

I'm not a huge fan of winter. If you know us at all, you know we prefer flip flops to snow boots. But we know that not everyone is like us and that living here in Upstate New York, occasionally attempting to have some fun in the snow is a requirement.

Thankfully, the kids in our portrait membership program do enjoy sledding and snow. Inside donuts, hot chocolate, crafting and playing warmed everyone back up.

I know we won't be sad to see the snow start to melt away in the coming months. In the meantime, we enjoyed the chance to photograph our families as they experienced this time in the snow together.

We hope to see you at the next event - Swimming at the Perinton Rec Center on March 25th! Put it on your calendars and join us!

Three Kids at Home: Fall Family Portraits

My favorite type of photographs to make are documentary. I love to let kids be kids and find ways to make interesting photos out of it.

This family has been with me since the beginning, and always lets me have free reign. There might be a plan or a goal, but when naps or tantrums get in the way, we roll with it. Honestly, I believe that is when we make the best photographs.

They are real, honest and often silly. Or sometimes quiet and focused, like when three year old Liam played his violin with his dad. (That kid has more talent in his pinky finger than I do in my whole body!)

But really, the point of this session was to celebrate the arrival of baby Cormac, and to honor the angels in Heaven that came before him.

In Alicia's words, "I miscarried once after Stella and three times after Liam. For me, the suffering that I endured was more redemptive than anything else. I now have a stronger faith and a greater appreciation for what God has given us."

The picture below sums it up for me. The smile on the babies face while the family hangs out in front of their home on a sunny Fall day.

Love. Family. What more do you need?

Tom, Alicia... thank you again, for reminding me how blessed each of us are. Thank you for opening your home and sharing your story. You are two of the strongest people I know.

Love,
Lori

Three Generations, Extended Family Session

And one year old, Theo makes FOUR. Grandsons that is! Grandma and Grandpa are so lucky! There's all boys on this side of the family. Thankfully, the women married in. :)

I loved spending time with this crew a few weeks ago. The sun was still warm in the sky, leaves still on the trees. The boys showed me their scooters and loved playing with their littlest cousin. It won't be long until they will be teaching him how to scooter all by himself. He just started walking, so it's not a big jump from feet to scooter, right?

I don't think that dog gets any love, do you? ;)

Til next time,
Lori
