He reached out to us in need of some personal brand photography for an upcoming magazine article he was being featured in. It was a fun and different opportunity for us to photograph!
As as a branding photographer, I know absolutely nothing about electrostatic engineering. However, I do know he made the job look great in his branding portraits!
Choose neutral colors. Neutral colors like navy, black, brown, and gray are always a safe bet for family photos. They're flattering on everyone and they won't clash with the background.
Add pops of color. If you want to add a little bit of personality to your outfits, you can do so by adding pops of color. This could be a bright scarf, a patterned shirt, or a pair of colorful shoes. Just be sure to keep the pops of color small so that they don't overpower the rest of your outfit.
Consider the season. When choosing outfits for family photos, it's important to consider the season. For example, if you're having your photos taken in the summer, you'll want to choose light, airy fabrics. If you're having your photos taken outside in the winter, you'll want to choose warmer fabrics or plan out coordinating jackets.
Coordinate your outfits. You don't have to wear matching outfits for family photos, but it's a good idea to coordinate your outfits so that they look cohesive. This could mean choosing outfits in the same color scheme or choosing outfits with similar patterns.
Be comfortable. The most important thing is to be comfortable in your clothes. If you're not comfortable, it will show in your photos. So choose outfits that you feel good in and that you'll be able to move around in easily.

Pastels: This color scheme is perfect for spring or summer photos. It's made up of soft, light colors like pink, blue, and yellow.

This adorable little family visited the Finger Lakes for their first time as a family of four over the summer. They enjoy being outside and exploring nature, so they celebrated this trip with a family portrait session along Seneca Lake in Geneva, NY.
We wandered the walking path near the Finger Lakes Welcome Center, and found some nice shady locations for their family pictures.

Since our last personal brand photography session with Dr. Heather Hirsch, she’s been a very busy woman! It’s exciting not only see how she’s using her brand photographs, but also how much her exposure has grown.
Because of these many media outlets and how busy she’s gotten, Heather was in need of new branding pictures for use on social media after just six months.

I mean, how else do you show the world what you’re capable of as an residential interior designer, except to show yourself amidst your own construction and design work?
She’s updating her website, designing and constructing her own office / show room, and also entering into The One Room Challenge. It is a biannual event every spring and fall. Everyone with a blog, Instagram account, or TikTok can participate by registering for the event with the room or space they’re transforming.
She’s also a hands on business woman, working on designs for clients at the same time. So it’s safe to say she’s got her hands pretty full.
We’re excited to see how she uses her branding pictures along the way!
What do you do when Santa comes to the door? Answer it, obviously!
This was such a unique and fun family portrait session. Santa arrived with a gift for each child, they put them on the tree together. They spent some time talking about the spirit of the holidays, and then they decorated cookies WITH Santa!
I felt like one of Santa’s elves photographing these family pictures. It was so magical! I believe this was an experience that this family will be able to cherish for years to come. And these family pictures will surely help them to do just that.

A love of all things “trains” runs deep in this family. So when we were planning their annual family portrait this year, I didn’t think “flowers and nature.” I thought of the train car at Fairport Junction.
There was also a visit to the Lift Bridge and a race to the crossing when a train announced it was rolling through the village. We got our steps in that night for sure! But this little cutie and her family are worth putting on my racing shoes on a hot summer night.
Extended family pictures hold a special place in our hearts as they bring together multiple generations under one frame. The joy and love that emanate from a 50th wedding anniversary celebration is truly remarkable. It is a testament to a couple's commitment and the enduring bonds they have built with their loved ones over the years.
For this family, the anniversary came during the pandemic, so they made up for that with their family portraits over the summer. There were a lot of laughs, and some beautiful classic cars involved in this Victor NY portrait session!
I mean, come on, how gorgeous is this pink Chevrolet? And the adorable couple is pretty great too, right?
Our holiday family candid mini sessions at Pittsford Dairy were so dang cute!
From warming up by the fire to playing a quick game of hide and seek in the trees, this was the perfect location for some winter mini sessions for our families.
And when we were finished, we all headed inside for a fun, sweet treat! I mean, honestly how could we pass it up?

They come together from out of state as often as they’re able to, but this time around they wanted to update the family portrait. The garden at their home in Honeoye was the perfect summer portrait setting.
And then after the formalities were achieved, the kids hit the trampoline - where a few summer fun cousin pictures took place.
Play is always a part of a good family portrait session with kids! It gives you a glimpse of who they are when they’re not paying attention to the camera.

Voice Therapist, Gerriann Jackson of VoiceOver Speech Pathology, came to us excited about her new website. We learned that she’s colleagues with Caroline Murrah, who happens to be another brand photography client of ours! (Check out Caroline’s blog post here.)
Gerriann wanted to portray herself as a warm, inviting person, with a variety of interesting hobbies (like taking drum lessons) and a love of her family.
She used these portraits on her website and social media pages for people to learn more about who she is.
What’s great about personal brand photography is that no two sessions are ever the same. Even if our subject is in a similar field. The reason here is obvious - it’s personal!
Family pictures in Pittsford NY that includes 5 children under the age of 5? Challenge accepted.
It’s no easy feat to get all five children looking in the same direction for family pictures. But these kids and their parents were troopers. This extended family session included 2 different families and Grandma.
They haven’t all been together in years. So this was the perfect opportunity to squeeze in family pictures in between all of the playing and family fun.
