3 Reasons You Don’t Need a Huge Office for Personal Brand Photography

Branding Photography in Small Spaces Rochester NY

When we start planning a brand photoshoot with clients, a concern we hear often is “My office is too small for my branding portraits.”

We’re here to tell you that you don’t need a huge, white office with a perfectly clean desk to get professional, useable brand images.

Recently, we photographed therapist Leyna Johnson Nguyen, whose entire practice runs out of one cozy room in Perinton NY. There were initial concerns that it might be too small. However, by the end of her branding session, we had created a gallery of brand photographs that captured her warmth, professionalism, and the cheerful environment she offers clients. Her session is an example of why small spaces are not a limitation when it comes to personal brand photography.

Here are three reasons branding photography in small spaces works:

  1. Small spaces show your personality

Having a big office, or renting a studio space can sometimes feel cold or generic - and like everyone else’s brand photographs. But the whole point of personal brand photography is about personality!

In Leyna’s branding session, her wall art, pillows and even the welcoming chairs tell a story about who she is and how she works, showing potential patients what it feels like to meet with her. A sprawling office might look professional, but it can’t capture the personal touches that make you stand out.

  2. Creativity matters more than size

A good photographer knows how to use light, angles, and styling to transform any space. In this session we used one chair for portraits, the couch for a more casual look, and even the entranceway to show Leyna welcoming people into her space.

The key to good branding photography isn’t square footage—it’s intentional use of what you already have.

  3. Relatable to your audience

Most clients don’t have huge offices either. And believe it or not, people want to see the real space where you welcome them. Seeing you in a realistic, relatable space helps them connect with you right away. In this case, Leyna’s office wasn’t just her workplace. It was also the place where her clients already felt comfortable. Including it in her brand photos reinforced that sense of safety and comfort.

Be the real you, no matter what your space looks like

A gigantic office with white walls might look impressive, but it won’t immediately connect with everyone. A small office, studio, or workspace can be the perfect setting for your branding photos. Because at the end of the day, personal brand photography is really all about showcasing the real you - no matter how big or small.
