Newborn Sessions: At Home or In a Studio?

We were there for this momma’s wedding, first baby, for his first year, and their lives as a family of three. And now, they’re a family of five - welcoming twins over the winter!

So naturally, we were there for their in home newborn portrait session too! When it comes to capturing those precious first moments with your newborn, deciding between an in-home session versus a studio session is a common consideration. While both portrait session options have their merits, there are distinct advantages to choosing an in-home newborn session.

And it’s not just because we don’t have (or want) a portrait studio.

Here’s 3 reasons why we prefer an in home newborn session.

1) Comfort, Flexibility and Convenience

Choosing in-home, lifestyle newborn pictures makes them comfy and easy. You get to relax in your own space, making it simple for you and your baby. No need to pack up - everything is handy. And with the unpredicatable nature of babies’ - taking their newborn photographs at home accommodates feeding, changes and unexpected interruptions comfortably. This makes the family portrait session smoother and more pleasant for your little ones.

2) Personalized Touch

Your house shows your family's story and style. Pick an at-home family session to include personal details like the nursery you decorated, family moments on the couch, or special heirlooms. The personal touch of your home brings a one-of-a-kind feel to baby photos that a studio might not have.

3 Family Bonding and Connection

Welcoming these new babies home has been a special time for the whole family. Newborn pictures at home capture real moments and connections between family members like siblings, pets, and parents. It's a meaningful way to celebrate your family's love and togetherness.

These little ones are already so full of personality, and so very loved. We can’t wait to watch them grow!
