Senior Pictures in Rochester NY: Aurora, Class of 2024

Brighton High School Senior, Aurora, was so much fun to work with. She loves to be outside, and she loves to sing and dance. Put the two together, and you have a really fun senior portrait session.

We used her grandmother’s backyard garden as the setting for her Senior pictures. There was no shortage of laughter and 50,000 watt smiles.

Congratulations to this amazing Class of 2024 grad!

Victor High School Senior Pictures: Garrett, Class of 2024

Garrett is the third sibling in his family to have senior pictures taken by us. First there was Abby in 2019 and then Mallory in 2021.

Garrett is a Class of 2024 grad, and a basketball player at Victor High School. Naturally, we got on the court and let him show us his some of skills.

After that, we headed over to Schoen Place in Pittsford, just like we did with both Abby and Mallory.

Parents of high school seniors, this is actually a great tip, if you have multiple graduating seniors! Pick a common location. You may love having the consistency of the look in all of your kids senior pictures, especially when you’re putting these portraits on the walls at home!

Rochester NY Senior Pictures: Hannah and Sarah

A senior portrait session for twins = wow! They’re a little longer sessions, but that’s essential in order to bring out two different personalities in senior pictures.

Thankfully, Sarah and Hannah from Fairport High School both liked the idea of using Cobbs Hill as the location for their senior pictures. We played in the leaves, used the graffiti art on the water tower and took advantage of the architecture at the top of the reservoir.

Sarah showed off her strong personality in every outfit she rocked. Hannah’s a black belt in karate, and also took us to the track where she runs cross country.

Together, they are a great combination, and sure to be unstoppable at whatever lies ahead in their future. Congratulations Hannah and Sarah!

Brighton NY Senior Pictures: Christopher, Class of 2023

Meet Christopher. Last Fall, we took his senior pictures at Fellows Road Park in Fairport.

He’s got amazing eyes, and an even more amazing personality. Having had some prior experience with having his portrait taken for theatre programs, his senior portrait session was a breeze.

It was also a lot of fun! When he graduates, he wants to go to Forestry school, so we incorporated the parks many pine trees and fall colors. He also plays on a local ultimate frisbee team, so we included that in his senior pictures as well.

But possibly my favorite part of Christopher’s senior pictures included his cat. But he didn’t want just a sweet portrait snuggling his cat. He wanted to wear a suit and tie, and imitate Dr. Evil, from the Austin Powers movies. So we did just that, and then added even more fun to the senior portrait session when he took the cat on a ride on the playground swings.

Why not, right?! It’s ok to have a little fun and add your personality to your senior pictures! In fact, we encourage it!

Senior Pictures in Wayne: Aiden

Aiden is a Wayne High School, Class of 2023 senior.

He's a tennis player and also loves football, whether in real life or playing Madden.

We photographed his senior portrait session in right before the leaves started to drop in November. The yellow in the trees made for an amazing background for his senior pictures.

It was fun to show off the different sides of his personality. We even took a few that included Mom, which is one of our favorite things to do at every senior portrait session.

We’re so glad we were able to fit this session in before his high school’s deadline! Congratulations, Aiden!

Senior Pictures in Williamsville: Maja, Class of 2023

Maja is a Clarence High School Senior, with a great smile and passion for the ice. We traveled down the thruway for her senior portraits to Glen Falls in Williamsville NY.

At Glen Falls, we used hidden little water falls to create some gorgeous senior pictures in a natural setting. After that, we visited North Town Ice Rink to show off her figure skating skills!

After as many years as we’ve been senior portrait photographers, it’s exciting to still have a few “firsts.” This senior session included the first time we photographed a figure skating senior portrait.

With the help of her coach, we shot a variety of jumps, spins and graceful poses to help Maja celebrate this passion in her senior pictures. It was a lot of fun, even though we lost feeling in our toes for a few minutes from the cold ice rink!

What passion would you include in a senior portrait?

Victor NY Senior Pictures: Alison, Class of 2023

Alison is a senior at Victor High School, set to graduate with the Class of 2023. Her goals after graduation include going into Pre Law. At her senior portrait session, she nailed some fierce lawyer poses, so we think she’s clearly ready to take on the world.

Her senior pictures took place on the grounds of the Eastman Museum. Her clothes, her hair, her stunning eyes, it all worked together beautifully. The variety of architecture and garden elements felt like the right fit for Alison’s style.

Congrats Alison! Get out there and conquer your goals!

Pittsford Mendon Senior Pictures: Maya Class of 2023

Maya is an upcoming Class of 2023 grad at Pittsford Mendon High School. She’s a softball player and volunteers outside of the classroom.

Her senior pictures in Webster included both the Arboretum and the shoreline at Webster Park. Everything from the sunset light to the flowers was perfect for her golden hour senior portraits.

She’s got a fantastic sense of style, amazing hair, and a gorgeous smile. Also I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little jealous of those eyes!

If you see her, congratulate her as she heads off to new adventures after high school!

Fairport NY Portraits: Bowler's Magazine

We met up at Ravenwood Golf Club to create some portraits for an article about the 2022 Junior Gold Bowling Championship. The mission?

Capture a 12 year old, championship winning bowler, taking aim at her bowling ball with her golf club for Bowler’s Magazine. The goal was to highlight the fact that she’s not only a champion bowler, but an amazing golfer as well.

Challenge accepted.

It was a fun challenge, and a fun portrait session. And even after all these years as a portrait photographer, it’s still exciting to see your work printed in a magazine.

Tips for Senior Pictures: Fairport NY Senior Portraits

2014-07-07_00031.jpg

Senior pictures for the Class of 2024 are underway! So we thought it might help to share few tips for some great senior pictures in the Rochester NY area.

After all, these senior portraits will live on the pages of the high school yearbook and on your walls for years to come. The experience you have should be fun, memorable and unique! So here's a few tips to get you thinking...

1) Clothing

Do your best to avoid clothing with words, stripes and plaids. Solid colors tend to photograph much better, especially in a busy background like a park or among colorful flowers. Make sure you're comfortable in your choices, and that they are flattering to you. If there's a part of you that you're self-conscious about, like your arms - simple solution, wear sleeves! Be comfortable in your clothes, so that it shows in your photographs! Also, keep your jewelry simple so it doesn't distract from what we're really capturing - you!

If you have questions on what to wear, bring a variety of options - from dressy to casual! We can help you pick the right outfit for the right setting.

2) Makeup

Don't feel like this is an opportunity to layer on makeup. We want a natural you in your high school senior pictures, not someone that no one will recognize! Your makeup should only be slightly heavier than usual. And please...don't use sparkles, they only make you look shiny in all the wrong places. Don't worry too much about blemishes either, we have ways to help diminish those!

3) Shaving

Unless you're into a bearded look, shave prior to the session to avoid unwanted stubble. If your face gets irritated easily, leave enough time for it to return to normal before your senior pictures.

4) Props, pets and activities

Here's the fun part. What is it that makes you, you? Do you have a cat, dog or pet iguana to include in your senior portraits? We're game, just make sure you bring treats for motivation, and someone to keep watch over Fluffy the Lizard while he's not in the photographs.

We encourage you to bring items that reveal your personality and hobbies. For example, an instrument, sporting equipment, vehicle, collectible, or whatever it is you enjoy!

Mercy High School Senior Pictures: Class of 2022, Emma

I love it when our students bring their personal style to their Rochester senior pictures! The Memorial Art Gallery was the perfect setting for this beautiful soul and artist, Emma.

Just like her brother, Ethan, she had a confident ease about her that just made her a pleasure to be around, and gave her senior portraits the perfect glow.

Don’t those string lights just make the coolest background for senior pictures? Love it! Congrats Emma, and best of luck next year! -Lori

Rush Henrietta Senior Pictures: Class of 2022, Stephanie

Stephanie is a Rush Henrietta High School senior. Capturing this moment in senior year is special on its own, but add in grandma and it took Stephanie’s senior pictures over the top.

You could tell they have a special connection, and that it helped to relax Stephanie for her senior portraits. Not that she needed it, she rocked every look she put on, even her nursing uniform!

Stephanie, you have a beautiful smile and laugh, let that radiate into the world and you will make your future patients at ease. Congrats Stephanie, I can’t wait to see where you go from here! -Lori
